In addition to being homeschooled as part of my education, I started my homeschooling career with my oldest. He was born in 2005, so in true homeschool mentality, I feel I have been homeschooling since then. Over the last nearly two decades of teaching my children, I have discovered a Homeschool Curriculum for the Whole Family. I am still an eclectic homeschool mom, but I now use just one main source for all core subjects. If you are a Christian homeschool family, I will always recommend this curriculum creator for textbooks in every subject.

One great thing about falling in love with one homeschool curriculum for the whole family is that it is frugal. Once you purchase the teacher’s guides for one child, you can use them again for every child after. This saves a lot of money when you have a large family. I am so thankful that I have found a single source to turn to for each of my children every year!

Homeschool Curriculum for the Whole Family

From grades K through 8th, I use textbooks for math and language arts that we work through consistently. For all other subjects (history, science, etc.) we use a variety of resources including living books, audio/visual media, and hands-on experiences. In grades 9-12, we add textbooks for science and history for more structure.

Multi-Subject Book Series Children LOVE!

What a Character! Notable Lives from History Series by Marilyn Boyer is a great set of Living History (plus science & social studies) books!

While we supplement and use products from several homeschool companies, our foundational textbooks are from MasterBooks. I started using their Math Lessons for a Living Education several years ago. I added Language Lessons for a Living Education. Then I switched to using their science and history courses in high school, too.

I have been satisfied and happy with MasterBooks over the years. As they have expanded and developed curricula for every subject and grade, I have chosen them for my students.

I also own many of their apologetics, reference, and Bible study resources. We have many of their products on our shelves to refer to, along with resources from Generations (for the entire family), Compass Classroom (for high school – our favorites being Visual Latin, Devotional Biology, and their writing courses), and others.

This year, I have 4 children using MasterBooks textbooks for their core subjects going into the following grades in September: 6, 7, 9, and 10. We use multiple levels of math, language arts, science, and history. I also have a son who is a special needs preschooler, so I have five students in total.

When shopping MasterBooks, you will want to order what you need in April or on Black Friday, since those are the best discounts of the year. I end up shopping during both sales. I try to order everything in April, but realize I missed something when we start school in September, so the sale in November is helpful. 🙂

My children in high school are using Survey of Astronomy for science and American History for their upcoming studies, in addition to math and language arts. My younger children are just using the math and language arts textbooks.

MasterBooks is a great source of Homeschool Curriculum for the Whole Family, but a close runner-up is Generations. I appreciate the resources available to me and my children from both places.
