Sometime between weeks 21 and 24 of my pregnancy, my cousin Jen contacted me to ask about a burial gown for baby. Another lady had contacted Jen, wondering if we had a gown yet. You see, on the east coast, my distant cousin’s wife, Kris, had heard about our precious baby and wanted to make us a burial gown. She had lost her own baby prematurely and now makes burial gowns as gifts to others who need them. I said that we did need a gown, but didn’t know when we would need it, how big baby would be, or the gender of baby. Days later, I ended up in the hospital… so I talked to Jen again. We still didn’t know any specifics, but did know baby would be born at 24 weeks gestation. After Elijah was born and we knew his sex and size, my Dad called Jen (or Levi maybe?) to let her know that the gown could be sent out. To our surprise and delight, the gown was already here on the west coast and would be brought to my Dad’s sometime before the funeral.
On Friday, we received the gown in a sweet gift box. We brought it to the funeral home and opened it. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect! So soft… just right! There was a hat and blanket as well. I couldn’t have chosen a better gown to bury my little buddy in. Thank you so much, Kris, Sarah, Jen, and any others involved in providing us with a wonderful gift in our time of need! May you be blessed!
