So, awhile back I promised to share my favorite natural, homemade cleaners. I have finally found my favorite DIY natural cleaners and I have been using them for several months. The best part? They are all super simple and easy to mix up!
DIY Natural Cleaners For The Entire House
Window Cleaner: Easiest of all, just 50/50 vinegar and water. I use white vinegar. Spray on window/mirror, wipe off with a dry cloth or Norwex cloth. I also like the window cleaner from Melaleuca. (Reader tip: add a little Rubbing Alcohol to stop the streaks!)
All-Purpose Cleaner: Fill a 32oz. spray bottle with warm water til a few inches from the top, add 1 tablespoon castile soap and your favorite Essential Oils. I use about 10 drops each of lemon, tea tree, and eucalyptus. Shake before using. I use this spray for the tub/shower, counter/sink, exterior of the toilet, walls, and doors.
Toilet Bowl Cleanser: I sprinkle about 1/2 cup of baking soda around the inside of the toilet bowl, scrub with a toilet brush, pour in about 1/2 cup vinegar, and scrub with toilet brush. I let the mixture sit in the toilet until the next time it is used.
Kitchen Sink Scrub: I sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda around the empty kitchen sink, scrub hard with a rag, then pour a little vinegar in and wipe clean. Rinse/wipe with water. This does leave some water spots in stainless steel sinks but gets rid of dirtiness. (Reader tip: add a drop of dish soap to help eliminate the water spots)
Floors: I simply use hot water with vinegar and sometimes I add essential oils like tea tree, lemon, etc. I use it on our vinyl floors. Not sure how safe it is for wood.
Laundry: This recipe has done well by us. But here is a secret trick for an ultra-quick laundry detergent: For regular loads, put into the washing machine (top loader tested only) 1 tablespoon each of baking soda and washing soda, then add 1 sparse squirt of liquid Castile soap and a few drops of Lemon (for stains), Peppermint (scent), and/or Eucalyptus (for dust mites/bed bugs) Essential Oils — perfect for when you run out of regular laundry detergent unexpectedly!
