Here are my favorite natural cleaners. Most are DIY and are super simple and easy to mix up as a frugal way to clean your house. Grab the free PDF printable to refer to again and again!

Natural Cleaners For The Entire House

Window Cleaner: Easiest of all, just water with a few drops of your favorite essential oil in a 32oz. spray bottle. Spray lightly on the window/mirror and wipe off with a Norwex window cloth. I used 50/50 water and white vinegar several years ago – before I had Norwex window cloths – I used a dry rag cloth. Add a little Rubbing Alcohol to stop the streaks!

All-Purpose Cleaner: Fill a 32oz. spray bottle with warm water til a few inches from the top, and add 1 tablespoon castile soap and your favorite Essential Oils. I use about 10 drops each of lemon (degreaser), tea tree (cleanser), and pine (antiseptic) for that old-fashioned pine-sol smell from my childhood. Shake before using. I use this spray for the tub/shower, counter/sink, exterior of the toilet, walls, and doors.

Toilet Bowl Cleanser: I sprinkle about 1/2 cup of baking soda around the inside of the toilet bowl, scrub with a toilet brush, pour in about 1/2 cup vinegar, and scrub with a toilet brush. I let the mixture sit in the toilet until the next time it will be flushed after use. I often use the cleaning paste from Norwex now.

Kitchen Sink Scrub: I sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda around the empty kitchen sink, scrub hard with a rag, then pour a little vinegar in and wipe clean. Rinse/wipe with water. Add a drop of dish soap to help eliminate the water spots.

Floors: I simply use hot water and add essential oils like tea tree (antibacterial properties), lemon (stains/grease remover), spearmint (insect repellant), etc. I use it on our laminate “wood” floors. I use the mop system from Norwex.

Laundry: I use liquid Norwex laundry detergent now, but this homemade laundry soap recipe did well for several years and is great when money is tight. Add a few drops of Lemon (stains/grease remover) and/or Eucalyptus (for dust mites/bed bugs/allergens) Essential Oils. TIP: A super quick laundry soap option is to add 1-2 tablespoons of each of the following directly to your top-loader washing machine before adding dirty clothes to the washing machine tub: castile soap, washing soda/soda ash, and baking soda. Add Essential Oils as explained.

Dishes: This is hands-down the BEST dishwasher detergent I have ever used! So easy to mix up and works great. I like to have it as a backup when I run out of other detergents. I use the powdered dishwasher detergent from Norwex most of the time.
