Are you a mother of young children and planning to homeschool them for their education? These Must-Read Books for Homeschool Moms will start you on the right path!
If I could start a first-time mom on an “empowering” (for lack of a better word) homeschooling journey, these are the books I’d recommend they read as soon as they become a mom. But, regardless of how old/young your children are, or where you are in your homeschooling journey, I suggest you start reading the following books.
Start now and make your way through these in the order listed to glean inspiration and information. They are a gentle, yet powerful, example of how amazing teaching your children at home can be!
Grab the FREE Reading Challenge PDF to help you hit your reading goals. Your children may use the printable, too! A reading challenge the entire family can enjoy!
Must-Read Books for Homeschool Moms
- Pocketful of Pinecones, Lessons at BlackBerry Inn, and Michael’s Gentle Wife all by Karen Andreola. These books are fiction, yet they are an inspiration for homeschool moms. Karen teaches you how to live a lifestyle of learning through the examples in her stories. I recommend you read every other book by Karen, too. Her books are the perfect companion to the Charlotte Mason method.
- The six books in Charlotte Mason’s Home Education Series. I haven’t read these in full yet, just excerpts, but I plan to.
- All About Teaching Language Arts for Homeschool Moms by Yours Truly. This book guides you through all you need to know to teach language arts to your children from birth and up!
- The books in my article Beautiful Books for Moms, you will find some of the same as listed here, but even more books to spark joy in your home!
Of course, you only need to start with the first book on the above list. And – in all honesty – you can read them in ANY order, but I’m just sharing the order I prefer.
These books have been a blessing to me. I didn’t read them until several years into my homeschooling journey, and I wish I had read them sooner.
As always, if you ever have questions about homeschooling, you can ask me! I am not an expert on your child, but I was homeschooled for part of my education and have home-educated my children from the beginning (I graduated my first in 2023).
I love supporting homeschool moms – that’s why you will find dozens of free articles on this website, as well as books and planners on Amazon and Etsy full of practical tips and biblical encouragement! Be blessed!
