Learning economics at home (specifically, through home education) is quite simple when you have the right resources! I have discovered many ways to teach and learn economics in our homeschool over the last 18+ years.

Learning economics through reading a variety of sources is great. We have used books by various authors, online courses, and textbooks – all are listed below for your convenience!

Resources for Learning Economics at Home

One of the first resources we used was Economics for Everybody from Compass Classroom. I wouldn’t say it is our favorite, but its unique way of explaining the economy through vintage cartoons is interesting and holds our attention!

My son did an economics course from Master Books in his last year of high school. It is called Intro to Economics: Money, History & Fiscal Faith. It seems to focus more on explaining the stock exchange than anything else.

We have also utilized reading books and documents from our Nation’s Founding Fathers to educate ourselves on the US economy. This makes sense because knowing how we started and our foundation is important!

Finally, we have the Uncle Eric books, and we highly recommend them. These books are written in an easy-to-understand conversational tone for children, and yet do not dumb it down at all. So many questions and answers are discussed, and much information is covered.
